After Dinner
Dave kicked things off after dinner. We went around the room giving everyone a chance to introduce themselves, spouses, guests, tell a story, whatever. I got pictures of many of the participants.
The Boot
This year I got to introduce the boot to its new recipient. I first went over the various ways riders are awarded the boot before announcing that Markus, the 2013 winner, had found a new way—he wasn’t paying full attention to the width of his panniers as he backed his new-to-him GS into a parking spot. He didn’t quite hit Dave’s Harley, but he did clip the helmet that was tied to the bike. Congratulations Markus. New rule: backing into Dave’s bike will get you the boot.

Sunday
Two groups of riders left for Kirkwood for breakfast. I was part of the second group. We arrived just as the first group was leaving. Carl supplied the before and after pictures of the Kirkwood cakes. After breakfast we continued on highway 88 toward Jackson where some stopped for gas and all enjoyed some time off of the saddle.
I did not gas up in Jackson and planned on a stop in Tracy. I didn’t need one. My new bike had enough fuel to get me all the way home. Other than some traffic between Castro Valley and the San Mateo bridge the ride was uneventful. I was home about 1:30.
Good trip. Short, about 500 miles over the 3 days. I’m already looking forward to next year. And maybe another camping trip at Wolf Creek some other time of the year. I do like that campground.
