Friday
Rob was the only taker when I mentioned leaving for Gardnerville a day early and camping off of Sonora pass. I wasn’t even sure he was going to join me until he arrived at my house a little before 8 AM on Friday. We left at 8 and headed to the usual spot for breakfast in Tracy. It was a bit strange with only the two of us there; usually there are a dozen or so breakfast club people around. The trip started great for me: Rob bought my breakfast! Thanks, Rob.
Other than an unplanned stop for a long train the ride went well. Traffic was light leaving Jamestown on 108. The light traffic made up for the amount of smoke in the air due to a fire off in Yosemite. 120 into Yosemite was marked closed.
We set up camp in the Baker Campground about 100 yards from the river (Stanislaus?). After riding the mile or so to the store at Kennedy Meadows to pick up some ice and other supplies it was time for coffee and snacks followed by some beer. Life is good. Dinner (chili over rice with a large helping of fruit followed by more beer) wasn’t bad, either.
