Monday
Rob knocked on my door about 7:30. I misread my watch and though it was 8:30, the time that those who were going to ride together said they were going to leave. Most of my stuff was packed the night before, so it didn’t take much time to get the bike loaded and ready to go.
Rich and Ginny left first. I believe they were going to ride up 101 to get home early. Rob, Bob, and I left about 8:15. We were taking a slightly longer route to the restaurant in Cambria. Dan, Fred, and Carl would meet us there.

Rob agreed to follow me over Santa Rosa Creek Rd inspite of Dan’s warnings of bone jarring bumps. He agreed that the views along the road are worth a few rough and steep spots.
Our timing was perfect. We turned off of Santa Rosa Creek Rd onto Main in Cambria just as Carl, Dan, and Fred rode by. Breakfast was great, if a little hot for those of us sitting in the sun. It looked like a perfect day to ride up the coast.

Nepenthe stop
The group of six got separated leaving Cambria. It seems that Fred and Dan turned the wrong way on 1, heading south instead of north. Bob, Rob, and I rode with Carl for a while until he waved us by. At a rest/photo stop we saw first Dan and Carl, and eventually Fred pass. Seems that Fred got pulled over by the police on suspicion of a double yellow pass. Nope, wrong guy. Fred said the officer apologized and sent him on his way.
I don’t know what happened to Dan, but the rest of us met at Nepenthe for some refreshment. Fred and Carl left first, then Bob, Rob, and I. We stopped in Santa Cruz for gas then continued up the coast for home.
I totaled 1345 miles over the 4 days, spending about 24 hours on the bike, riding. The breakdown was 550 miles on Friday, 200 miles on Saturday, 350 miles on Sunday, and 245 miles Monday. Good ride.
