No rain
No rain today. Plenty of bikes at breakfast.
Not a throw toy
Two days later
After breakfast some of us went over to Alberto’s to install electrical farkles on his KLR. The battery came out of the bike – a flooded lead acid battery. KLRs really are old school.
While Alberto, Bob, and Markus were picking up some needed fuses Mike and I played a game of involuntary catch with the battery while figuring out wire routing options. Mike threw and I failed to catch. The battery dripped acid over my lap then hit the ground and broke. I walked over to the hose and rinsed off my jeans. Then we called/texted the group at the store with instructions to come back with a new battery, too. A sealed battery.
I didn’t notice at the time that acid also got on my left leg at and below the knees until Tuesday morning when I kneeled down and left a blue stain and part of my jeans on the rug. Oh. Rub pants and the material comes apart. Ooops. Battery acid will do that.
I guess these pants will be turned into cut-offs much sooner than expected.
