Only four at the Cozy Cup in Hollister this morning. Dave G and Jerry G were along for part of the ride – they must have gone somewhere else for breakfast. After breakfast Carl headed south down SR 25 and Harry headed back toward the peninsula. Mike decided to follow me as I went looking for Brown’s Valley road; a well maintained dirt road between Santa Anita Rd/McCreery Ranch Rd at the northern end and Panoche Rd at the southern end.
Like this all the way
We found it. The road condition is as pictured the entire 6 or 7 miles. Beautiful views with a few ranch buildings and barns. When we got to the Panoche Rd end I said “Too short.” Mike suggested we turn around and do it again. We did. This time he led and I ate his dust :)
Road end for us
Back the way we came
When we hit McCreery Ranch Rd we turned right instead of going back toward the left. We knew there was no exit from an earlier sign that we saw. That sign should have read “no paved exit” as it was placed before the turn off to Brown’s Valley Rd. Anyway, within a few miles We found a gate across the road.
We stopped for a bit then turned around and took McCreery/Santa Anita/Santa Ana Valley to Fairview Rd and took it until SR 25. I turned right onto 25 to take it to 101/85/280 and home. I saw Mike at the stop sign as I made my right turn but not again. He’ll have to tell you what route he took.
