Two new SMBC members were in Burlingame this morning: Rob on a Concours and Carlos on a Triumph. Turnout for a ride to the North Bay was good. One more rider, Rob H, caught sight of the group on Lucas Valley Road.
After breakfast Rob H led Carlos and me north on 1 toward Bodega Bay with a stop on Pt Reyes for fuel. After a break at the Tides in Bodega Bay they headed back south… I was headed for a BBQ in Sebastopol, but needed to figure pout how to spend 2-3 hours to get there.
I continued north on 1, stopping at the small cafe in Jenner for a cup of coffee. After that stop I kept going north on the coast. I was going to take Meyers Grade Rd but the slow truck I was behind took that turn off. Instead I kept on the coast until Ft Ross where I turned onto the the goat path that passes itself as Ft Ross Rd. That road took me over the hill, into Cazedero where it turns into the Cazadero Highway. Both Ft Ross Rd and the Cazadero Highway were empty, the way I like them. I jumped on 116 at the end of Cazadero Highway for the short leg to Monte Rio where I picked up the Bohemian Highway through Occidental. I don’t think I missed whatever parade they were preparing for in Occidental by more than a few minutes! At the end of the Bohemian Highway I headed East on the Bodega Highway toward Sebastopol and my destination.
The BBQ was great, the slog home on 101 was OK. I made it home before Sundown.
