Death Valley is still closed.
Markus got up early and decided to take a walk. Apparently he missed the message that Fred and Hao were coming by around 8 AM and that we’d be leaving for breakfast in 8:30-9:00 AM time frame. About 10 minutes before 9 we’re packed and ready to go when Markus returned from his early morning walk. He’d not yet started to break camp.
When you ride with us you ride alone. We told him the name and location of the restaurant should he desire to catch up. He wouldn’t be alone, though. Randy decided to skip breakfast and hang around the camp site a bit longer, too. We headed to Garberville for breakfast. That was the last we saw of Markus and Randy this trip.
Breakfast was at the Woodrose. Carl said his pancake (yes, cake, not cakes) was great. However, that doesn’t quite match the expression on his face when they delivered his singular cake. Tom and I thought the food was nothing special, certainly not in line with the price. Service was so-so, too. I’m for finding a new spot.
Carl decided to head down 101 all the way to get home in the early afternoon. Tom, Fred, Hao, and I headed over to the coast. We stopped for fuel in Fort Bragg. Fred and Hao were going to continue down the coast. Tom and I took 128 though the Anderson Valley hitting 101 at Cloverdale. We separated at San Rafael. He took 580 over to the east bay and I continued down 101.
Good ride. As good as a Death Valley ride. But now that we’ve done the lost coast the next time we should plan on a 299/36 loop. Haven’t done that in a while.
